My Story
Shawnie Bennett is a proud native of San Francisco, CA, who holds a BS in Business Administration-Finance from Clark Atlanta University. As a dedicated mother of two and a joyful new GlamMa to her grandson, Shawnie is a beacon of inspiration and empowerment in her community.
Shawnie is the visionary Founder and Executive Director of Melanin Unlimited, a non-profit organization that promotes diversity and inclusion through empowerment, inner beauty, and mental wellness support. With a focus on inspiring and uplifting melanated families, Shawnie's passion shines through in the initiative "Dining with Our Daughters."
Having experienced firsthand the challenges of adversity, including mental health and substance abuse in her family while growing up in an urban community, Shawnie understands the transformative power of guidance from strong women. Through D.W.O.D., she celebrates women and girls, empowering them with lessons in etiquette, dining practices, grace, self-care, and other invaluable bonding experiences. She focuses on building the whole girl from the inside out through her I Am program. Shawnie Bennett's commitment to nurturing the next generation reflects her unwavering dedication to creating a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
